If you look at Google Reader features a little more closely, it reveals great potential for referral marketing. Not least thanks to the Google Reader Buzz is now an interesting mix of feed readers and so many social media features that we know of Twitter and Facebook ago.

I must admit that I've previously resisted feed reader. Especially against those who install it on the computer and you must therefore move is not necessarily available. However, after threatening to burst my bookmark list at the seams, but now I've decided to subscribe to feeds. Since I am a Gmail user and Adroid use smartphone, of course, the Google Reader offered, of which I am now more than thrilled, especially aufgund its functions to interact with other Google Reader users.

Until recently I had to Google Reader really used to reading articles. Google Reader, but gives us the opportunity to highlight specific items. You can add links to send to other items, group items into folders and tagged. But the most important in my eyes marking options are "Like" and "Recommended" or "recommend with this."

Items from the "I-Mag" button:
After I had subscribed to feeds from blogs quite well known, I noticed, however, that is always read the title, how many other readers of this and prefer those items - thus have to "Like" marks (eg "28 people prefer." ). Several hundred are not uncommon. Wow! This is strongly reminiscent of the "like" feature on facebook. Now if a product preferred by many readers, so it pays on the one hand the author respect for a great product and suggested to me as another reader that the article is worth reading. Therefore, I use more often the "Like" button.

If you now click on the words "... people prefer", these people listed, and at mouse over a name, even a kind of brief description, a photograph of the Gmail users is shown, which shows depending on the setting, the user names, pictures and more (insofar as this has created a Google profile, and made publicly available). If desired, you can follow these readers.

What is now reminiscent of Twitter:
"View Complete Profile", click on the one hand, of course, you can see the data which the person is released on their Google profile (About me, other web profiles, location, etc.), secondly you can read what the person via Google Buzz published (if it uses it) and the third is at the top right to read about how much so-called "other readers" this person has (ie followers) and how many people this is reading itself, that follows. The latter is to put forward again Buzz (Buzz but is not required to follow people). Those who (like me now) by Buzz Widget for Android would also monitor the feedback from the road to recommendations, the buzz was down to my heart!

Genuine recommendations:
The highlight of the thing now is that not only items you like, but can also recommend. And this is from a marketing point of view much more interesting because of the "Friend" (or "recommend Commented," which makes you a recommendation can not enrich a few personal words) is referral marketing to implement the simplest way: I find in my Google Reader I now left in the navigation heading "Persons whose regular reader you are." Below are listed all the people now, that I do. I click on one, so I will see its recommendations. For clarity, this person can even fit into groups (analogous Twitter lists).

People find and follow:
Meanwhile, I will now follow a couple of Google Reader users and new ones almost daily. I usually read one or more articles by an author and then follow this. Sometimes I look at too, who else besides me has marked a special article with "I Like" and then follow one or the other. If it is a technical article, chances are good that we have similar interests and I read the odd tip here would get over.

Simply click on "Browse" button provides a search function. Then clicks on the "Search" to search for feeds / people. It is for keywords, names, location, job search, etc.. The results will then display a link to any person to feed preview, with which one can ascertain whether this really provides the material that you want to read. This function is expandable - I say it!

Recommendations in their own blog embed:
Google Reader also offers a widget to your website / blog their own, which lists its own recommendations. (Located underneath the list of people to whom you follow) under "Sharing Settings" you can create a so-called "clip". The configuration options regarding layout are unfortunately still somewhat limited.

Conclusion:
At the moment I am still admittedly pretty impressed by these functions. Sure, it's a huge potential in Google Reader. Especially if the search function a bit is drilled and the number of Google Reader and Google Buzz users continues to increase. One thing is certain:

If you have a large number of "eavesdroppers" so get recommendations from Google Reader certainly drive traffic to your own blog!

And that is precisely the challenge: you need other readers. I do not know if this will develop similar behavior patterns as with Twitter (you follow me then I'll Follow you, and something like that), but logic is: I get mostly by people following recommendations and interesting exchange on the network. Ergo, it is again time to provide ourselves and our instinct for interesting and interesting content to our own ability. And that's a good thing.
