I use Android in conjunction with the T-Mobile G1 for a year now. Time to draw a line and put the facts on the table. What is top and what is flop - with Android and the G1.

For this I make a clear split between hardware (G1) and software (Android & applications).

Another article of the series opinions .

Review the Android operating system:

Android actually gives me everything I want to go have handy. That gives me even though Apple's iPhone, but I'm a) no Apple fan, b) are cheaper Android smartphones and c) I already had a Google account, which I use intensively. The latter was the most decisive point for my decision to buy an Android phone .

android-erfahrungsbericht

I bought my T-Mobile G1 in early April, which means now I had updates through three different versions of Android on my phone (the G1 does not support currently not larger versions 1.6 as far as I know). The most important Google services were on board from the beginning (Google Calendar, Gmail, Maps, Youtube). One or the other application was developed by Google for Android update Android update also more stable, more comprehensive and smart (eg Google Maps). In mid-2009, since the version of "Donut" Android 1.6 or the "Quick Search Box" has been integrated. So I've had good experiences, because over here you really can quickly search for information and content on the phone and on the Internet (ie, across all sources).

As I was previously equipped mobile:

The internet in your pocket has fascinated me for a long time. In recent years, I had this as the Nokia N95 , which I thought was great, but because of the much expensive data plans have only used over the WLAN to access the Internet. After I though my son can - at that time in "infant and drool-Age" - stupidly allowed to play with it had to be something new, because drool is running into the boards :-/ Do me then the BlackBerry 8700g gakauft due to the qwerty keyboard. However, Vodafone's push email tariff option was too expensive and have therefore waived emails on the phone. Until then, I had a student contract with Vodafone 200 inclusive minutes. Since I had not exhausted those, however, for some time and my 45 euro fee were too expensive, I started to look around for other providers. From this point, I really wanted a iPhone * or something similar (if it ever was such a thing), but I wanted to finish this is not the T-Mobile "gag" tariffs. Well, hope dies last, and so I decided to wait for cheaper rates. Until then, I contented myself with a prepaid card. Briefly compare and quickly determined that the offer of Maxxim with 8 cents per minute and text messages was the absolute cheapest / is *. With Maxxim I have quite good experience. As always stop here: Who "cheap" wants the service must make concessions and take expensive hotlines in purchasing. Only one point was annoying: The simcard from Maxxim not understand themselves frequently with my Blackberry. So I was not achievable now and again, because "Sim Card Error" appears in the display, I had to contact two or three times to select the connection was established. Whether this was due to my phone or on the SIM card or Maxxim myself, I can not say. But back to the topic:

Why I bought the Google G1 phone from T-mobile:

Now ichs not done. I was never a telecom trailer. Especially since I had once gezofft me with a call center lady something I am determined actually, nothing more to buy from the club. And then everything changed: Read the rest of this entry »
